870 Series SCR Control Panel

870 Series SCR Control Panel

The 870 Series SCR Control panel is a fully proportional process temperature control panel that utilizes SCR Power Controllers to modulate the entire heater load directly, varying the heater output from 0 to 100% of the total heater KW. Working on a four second time base, the heater will be energized only for the number of AC cycles necessary to produce the exact amount of heat required. The resulting precision control and rapid response make the 870 Series SCR Control Panel the best choice for applications that must accommodate material flow changes and still provide precise temperature control. The panel is completely assembled, pre-wired, tested, and ready for trouble-free installation and operation. Designed for use in industrial environments and outdoor installations.

Circulation Heaters

Circulation heaters are utilized to heat fuel oils and lubricating oils to keep critical systems ready to use in a moment’s notice.  They are used to superheat steam and to heat natural gas above its dew point for use in power generating turbines.

Duct Heaters

Duct heaters are used to heat the incoming combustion air to increase the system’s efficiency.  They are used with SCR or Selective Catalyst Reduction systems to help treat flue gases.  Duct heaters can be used to dry ash for handling and disposal.

Immersion Heaters

Immersion heaters are called upon in power generating facilities for many task including; lubricating and fuel oil heating, air/gas heating, water freeze protection and storage tank heating.  They offer pipe thread, pipe flange and over-the-side installation options in addition to several material types that can be matched to the application.

Radiant Heaters

AccuTherm Radiant Heaters combine the highest grade materials with our in-depth application and manufacturing experience to provide a product to solve the most demanding radiant process heater applications.

The Metal Sheathed Heater provides a uniform wavelength and pattern that is absorbed by all colors with equal efficiency.

Units are available in various ratings and lengths and in 2 basic Kw. per sq. ft. capacities.

Catalog #RHS-1 series approximately 1.8 kw. per sq. ft.

Catalog #RHS-2 and RHH-1 series approximately 3.6 kw. per sq. ft.

Applications for AccuTherm Radiant Heaters are drying, preheating, curing, sterilizing, shrink fitting and degreasing, in applications where high temperatures will not cause damage or be a fire hazard.

Caution must be observed so that these heaters do not operate in atmospheres that can cause fire or explosion. In all applications the materials should be thoroughly investigated to insure that the gases produced in the application are controlled so as not to become a fire or explosion hazard. Applications must be in compliance with safety precautions as outlined by the jurisdictional authority.

Dry Well – Pre-Heating and Temperature Maintenance

Due to the ease of installation into any tank or vat; its 100% efficiency; its ease of automation; its lack of maintenance and remarkable reliability, the AccuTherm Drywell heater provides for reduced downtime – with no tanks to drain. Easily installed, the heavy-duty assemblies weld directly into storage tanks to deliver long-term and economical performance. Once installed, the heater is removable from the dry well without the need to drain the tank or disconnect fluid lines. The large heater surface area is designed with a pre-determined low-watt density (watts/sq in.), giving low sheath temperatures to avoid coking or damaging the material being heated.

 

Over-the-Side – Storage Tank Heaters

The AccuTherm Over-the-Side heater dissipates as low as three watts per square inch on the heater sheath. The Over-the-Side heater is viable with most temperature sensitive products for most every industry: asphalt and other petroleum derivatives for reducing viscosity; animal oils, fats, molasses for food production; lignites, waxes, paints, inks, etc.

Selecting Sheath Material, and Watt Density for Your Circulation Heater

It is important when selecting your circulation heater to choose the proper watt density and sheath material. If done correctly, selecting the right sheath material and watt density will provide your heater with a longer life and greater fluid integrity. Follow the guidelines below and use the information to help guide your decision making process.

Watt density, watts per square inch of element surface area, determines the heater’s operating temperature for a given set of conditions. For a more detailed explanation of watt density, please refer to our Watt Density article that explains how it is calculated and the affects it can have on a heater.

Watt density takes three factors into consideration:

1. Fluid flow rate

2. Maximum outlet temperature

3. Type of fluid that is being heated

They type of sheath material will depend on the type of fluid and the maximum temperature needed. A standard vessel material used is carbon steel but a stainless steel vessel may be required for higher temperatures or to provide better corrosion resistance.
